
Members of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine Class of 1971, in celebration of their Emerald Jubilee (55 years), held a four-day mini-reunion in Talisay, Silay, and Bacolod cities in Negros Occidental from Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 19 to 22.
They toured ancestral homes, The Ruins, cathedrals, art museums, and other tourist spots in the area.
Dr. Rodolfo Patiño, a Class of 1971 member and a prominent civic leader from Talisay City, invited his classmates from various parts of the Philippines and abroad to visit Negros.
Among the members of Class 1971 who visited are Dr. Geraldine Gomez-Pinder (class representative), Dr. Vicente Velasco III, Dr. Elmar Perez, Dr. Eleanor Caños, Dr. Victoria Gahol-Venida, Dr. Lydia Favor, Dr. Engracia Eusebio-Torres, Dr. Edmundo Somoza, Dr. Francisco Belizario and Dr. Rhodora Diaz-Damaso.
“They came with spouses and other members of their families, most for the first time. The tours were very educational and interesting. Everyone had a good time,” Gomez-Pinder said.
Gomez-Pinder was accompanied by her husband, Dr. Godfrey Pinder, her sister, Pearl Gomez-Ontalan, and brother-in-law, Bert Ontalan.*
