Tribu Sicablun Quatro named Dinagsa street dance champion

Tribu Sicablun Quatro of barangays Sicaba, Luna and Zone 4 in Cadiz City was named this year’s Dinagsa Festival street dance champion on Sunday, January 26.

Tribu Sicablun Quatro bested seven other tribes in a lively dance competition that drew thousands of spectators, a press release from Cadiz City said.

Tribu Sicablun Quartro beat last year’s grand winner – Tribu Bucad Cadiz Viejo of barangays Burgos, Caduhaan, Cadiz Viejo.

It took home the grand prize of P200,000 plus P50,000 for two minor awards – best in costume and choreography.

Named second placer and best in performance was Tribu Tinambi-Tres of barangays Tinampaan, Mabini and Zone 3.

The group went home with P175,000 cash prizes.

Settling for the third place and hailed for best in sound and rhythm was the former champion Tribu Bucad Cadiz Viejo that won P125,000 in cash prizes.

Tribu Hitalon of barangays Zones 1 and 6 landed in the fourth place and was named most disciplined tribe, winning P100,000 in cash prizes.

The consolation winners, who each won P50,000, were:

*Tribu Vilgus of barangays Celestino Villacin and V.F. Gustilo;

Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. thanked and praised all the participating barangays for their “splendid and world-class performances” in this year’s street dance competition themed: “Dinagsa goes international”.

“They all manifested the culture compassion and mindset of excellence,” he said.

“The eight competing tribes,” added Escalante, “also showcased dynamism and the beauty of synergy as added elements to the real cores of celebrating Dinagsa Festival annually – faith and devotion in their city’s patron, Sto. Nin̈o de Cadiz.”*
