Barangay Tangub claimed the championship title in the Electric MassKara 2026, winning ₱350,000, as six barangay contingents brought their festival identities, cultural stories, and community pride to the streets of Bacolod on Friday evening, October 16.
The Electric MassKara and Mega Float Parade traveled from Megaworld’s The Upper East to the Bacolod Government Center (BCGC), featuring illuminated floats and performances that highlighted the distinct cultural identities of the participating barangays.
Each contingent presented a festival theme reflecting its community, turning the parade into a showcase of local traditions, creativity, and friendly competition, a press release from Gugma Foundation said.
Barangay 12 presented the themes of Chicken Inasal and San Juan, while Barangay Tangub showcased the Tangab Festival.
Barangay 21 featured Plazuela de Bacolod, Barangay 19 presented its Flower Festival theme, and Barangay 14 highlighted the Pamukadkad Festival.
Barangay 17 completed the lineup with its Dinaguso Festival presentation.
Through their respective entries, the six barangays brought their community stories to the festival stage, demonstrating how local identities contribute to a shared celebration.
The competition placed barangay pride at the center of the event, with each contingent drawing on its cultural references and collective effort to represent its community before residents and visitors.
Tangub secured the championship and its ₱350,000 cash prize from Megaworld The Upper East, along with 30 canister sets from Regasco.
Barangay 17 finished first runner-up, receiving ₱200,000 from Casino Plus, while Barangay 12 placed second runner-up and took home ₱150,000, also from Casino Plus.
The special awards further recognized the participating barangays’ performances.

Barangay 17 won Best in Mask and Costume, Best Electric King and Queen, and Best in Choreography, receiving ₱10,000 for each award sponsored by DITO.
Barangay Tangub also earned Best Float and Best in Music, receiving ₱10,000 for each distinction, likewise sponsored by DITO.
Seven sponsor floats from Regasco, Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod, Palawan Pawnshop, McDonald’s, Chooks-to-Go, Bioderm, and Casino Plus joined the parade, adding to the evening’s presentations and highlighting the participation of festival partners alongside the competing communities.
More than a procession of illuminated floats, the Electric MassKara and Mega Float Parade provided a platform for barangays to present their cultural identities and demonstrate the teamwork behind their entries.
From festival traditions to contemporary interpretations of Bacolod’s culture, the parade brought together different community stories in one citywide celebration.
The event formed part of the MassKara Festival 2026, anchored on the theme “Share the Smile, Celebrate Gugma.”
“Through MassKara For All, we want every barangay to have the opportunity to share its story, showcase its culture, and take pride in what makes its community unique,” said Rodney Ascalon, festival director.
“Electric MassKara is more than a competition of lights and floats; it is a celebration of the people, traditions, and collective effort behind every entry, reflecting how each barangay contributes to the identity of Bacolod and brings meaning to our theme, ‘Share the Smile, Celebrate Gugma,’” Ascalon added.*
