Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said there are still some provincial government employees and a little more than 20 percent of Negros Occidental’s population who are still hesitant to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Lacson said he is still determining how many provincial government employees have not been vaccinated and they will try to convince them to get inoculated.
However, he will issue an executive order to make it mandatory for all provincial government employees to get vaccinated if he sees that it is necessary, Lacson said.
Renelo Lastierre, Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees president, said PACE welcomes the vaccination of government workers as a preventive measure to protect their health.
“In these worst times, it’s better to be prepared,” he said.
Respect for the right to life as a Constitutional mandate must be equated with safety of the majority, he said.
“Every person must be responsible for collective protection…Measures calculated for the common good must be the essence of governmental policies without which our very existence will be at stake”, Lastierre added.*
