The Philippine Coast Guard will be on heightened alert for Holy Week, Commander Joe Luviz Mercurio, PCG Northern Negros Occidental head, said on Monday, April 4.
Oplan Semana Santa enhanced monitoring of ports, beaches and resorts will be underway from April 11 to 17, he said.
PCG substations provincewide will have quick reaction teams to respond to any eventuality, Mercurio added.
The PCG is strengthening its presence in terms of monitoring and deployment readiness to ensure the safety of the public, he assured, adding that a final coordinating conference is set this week.
Signs will be put up in water recreation areas prone to accidents, he said.
The Maritime Industry Authority allows 100 percent vessel capacity but compliance with COVID-19 health protocols will also be ensured, he said.*
