
The We Care United Zumba Group of Barangay Pahanocoy danced its way to the top, securing the championship title and a ₱50,000 prize in the highly anticipated MassKara 2025 ZumDigras Inter-Barangay Dance Fitness Showdown on Sunday, Oct 5.
Meanwhile, Yan-Yan Edang of Barangay Tangub was crowned ZumDigras Queen 2025.
Thousands gathered at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds for what was billed as the biggest Zumba event to date, featuring vibrant costumes, synchronized routines, and non-stop movement that reinforced Bacolod’s emerging identity as one of the biggest Zumba Capitals of the Philippines.
The event was composed of two main competitions: the Inter-Barangay Dance Fitness Showdown and the ZumDigras Queen Pageant.
The winners in the Dance Fitness Competition were:
Champion: We Care United Zumba Group (Barangay Pahanocoy) – ₱50,000
First runner-up: Sizzling Hotmomz Family (Barangay Singcang-Airport) – ₱30,000
Second runner-up: D’Chikaz x Force Gravity x Jammerz (Barangay Handumanan) – ₱20,000
Th winners in the ZumDigras Queen Pageant:
Queen: Yan-Yan Edang (Barangay Tangub) – ₱5,000
First runner-up: Fiandra Jean Pabiran (Barangay Vista Alegre) – ₱3,000
Second runner-up: Eden Mae Guion (Barangay Handumanan) – ₱2,000
Thirteen dance groups from different barangays participated, proving that while it was a barangay-versus-barangay event, it was ultimately a joyful celebration of community spirit and unity.
Special recognition was also given to groups that excelled in specific areas:
Most Disciplined: Tangubnon Groovers (Barangay Tangub)
Most Energetic: Zumba KD Cares (Barangay 17)
Best in Costume: Team Happier x Hataw Lumina (Barangay Vista Alegre)
Festival Director Rodney Mitz Ascalon noted that the event successfully “brought together people of all ages—from moms to kids, and even seniors—all dancing and smiling together,” showcasing that fitness is an “inclusive and a true expression of Bacolod’s heart.”
The night concluded with a community-wide Zumba After-Party, featuring a surprise performance from Southvibes and a festive dance to “Happy MassKara,” the official theme of MassKara 2025.*
