The construction of the P513.3 million farm-to-market road with bridge through barangays Talacagay, Bacuyangan and Damutan in   Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, will perk up the economy of the town, Gov.  Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday, Sept. 26.

Lacson, who led the groundbreaking of the project on Wednesday, said it is being undertaken by the Negros Occidental Provincial Engineer’s Office with the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) and World Bank as implementing partners.

The project is expected to be finished on June 2026.

The farm-to-market road covers barangays that have vast potentials for agriculture “so the people of Hinoba-an  and its present officials are confident that once this project is completed it will really perk up their economy,” Lacson said.

It’s a project that has been talked about for so many years that is finally pushing through, Lacson said.

The DA and the provincial government are allocating a counterpart fund of P51.3 million for the project, while the World Bank’s counterpart is P410 million.

The farm-to-market road will cover 24.475 kilometers with a formation width of 9 – 10 meters, while the bridge measures 30 linear meters with a width of 5.60 meters.

Also present at the groundbreaking rites  were  Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District),  Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Hinoba-an Mayor Daph Anthony Reliquias and Vice Mayor Jefrey Encoy, Provincial Administrator  Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr., Police Provincial Director Rainerio de Chavez and Department of Agriculture officials.*
