
The about P500 million expansion of the Bacolod-Silay Airport passenger terminal building (PTB) will begin in the 1st quarter of 2026, the Department of Transportation announced on Friday, Dec. 12.
Once the PTB expansion is completed, the airport’s passenger capacity is expected to increase from 500 to 1,500.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the Bacolod Silay Airport existing (PTB) that is now at 80 percent complete on Friday.
This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure that airports nationwide are in good condition to ensure a comfortable and smooth travel experience for passengers, the DOT said.
Lopez was accompanied by Transportation Undersecretary Jim Sydiongco, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Raul Del Rosario and CAAP Deputy Director General Danjun Lucas during the inspection.*
