Negros’ Covid-19 cases, hospital occupancy drop

The new COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental in the last four days have dropped to double digits and occupancy in hospitals and quarantine facilities in the province decreased.

Negros Occidental on Sunday (November 7) had 52 new COVID-19 cases, Monday (November 8 – 34, Tuesday (November 9) – 55 and Wednesday (November 10) – 47, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

On November 5, the province had 101 new COVID-19 cases and on November 6 -146.

There were also 82 new COVID-19 deaths in Negros Occidental from November 5 to 10.

Negros Occidental had 1,516 active COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) reported.

Zeaphard Caelian, PIMT commander, said the occupancy rate at the COVID-19 designated hospitals and provincial government-run quarantine facilities have also dropped.

The occupancy rate at the Cadiz District Hospital was at 64.52 percent, Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City – 37.25 percent, and the Valladolid District Hospital – 48.72 percent, he said.

He, however, reminded Negrenses not to be complacent and to observe minimum health protocols against COVID-19 at all times.

Caelian also called on Negrenses to get vaccinated against COVID-19.*
