Nearly P7M in shabu seized, man arrested in Zamboanguita

The police arrested a high-value individual and seized nearly P7 million in suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental, on Saturday afternoon, May 16.

The police identified the suspect as alias “Kitt,” 38, a resident of Dumaguete City.

The operation was conducted at around 1:43 p.m. in Sitio Capagongan, Brgy. Poblacion, Zamboanguita, by the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, with support from other police and anti-drug units.

Authorities said the suspect was arrested after a transaction was arranged through a confidential informant.

Police said the suspect had also been previously arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Recovered during the operation were about 1,018.4 grams of suspected shabu estimated at P6,925,120.

Authorities also seized a sling bag, a cellular phone, a weighing scale, a black Honda Click motorcycle, P1,000 genuine buy-bust money, and 49 pieces of boodle money.

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and the provisions of the Anti-Torture Law.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against him.*
