It has not been decided whether Love Negros members will endorse a single presidential candidate in the 2022 elections, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, December 6.
“We have not decided yet but of course we will also give due respect to personal choices of local chief executives,” he said.
“Personally, I feel it’s difficult to have one choice,” he said.
Lacson said they always recognize the wisdom of the local chief executives, “but if it is possible that Love Negros will only have one choice that is the most ideal”.
On Saturday, it appeared like the United Negros Alliance members would not be supporting a single candidate for president in the 2022 elections.
While it is likely that Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, UNegA president, will be supporting the presidential bid of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., there are also other officials who are backing Vice President Leni Robredo for president, Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, UNegA secretary general, said.
He said UNegA has yet to meet on the matter.*
