Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson highlighted the strength of a unified Negros Island Region (NIR) during the opening of the 3rd NIR Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Sports and Cultural Meet at the STI West Negros University (WNU) Gym in Bacolod City on Tuesday, March 10.

Addressing a crowd of student-athletes and delegates from 22 private schools across Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, Lacson noted that what was once a shared geography has evolved into a robust partnership centered on youth development, education, and regional unity.

He urged the participants to let the regional games symbolize the collective potential of the NIR.

Under the theme “Inspiring Dreams, Igniting Passion, Innovating Pathways to the Olympics,” Lacson encouraged the youth to view the competition as a vital stepping stone toward excellence on both national and international stages.

He also reminded the competitors that the most valuable “trophy” they could earn is the development of character, perseverance, and integrity, as he challenged them to let their dedication inspire their peers to reach for excellence in all facets of life.

The meet is hosted by STI WNU headed by its president Dr. Ryan Mark Molina.*
