Negros Occidental’s local government units (LGUs) will not be able to vaccinate 516,807 residents in three days but they have already increased their daily vaccination performance, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said Tuesday, November 23.
The Department of Health has set the vaccination target of Negros Occidental at 516,807 and Bacolod City’s at 66,171 for the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” Days on November 29 to December 1.
Lacson said they will definitely not be able to meet that target in three days; a more realistic target for the 31 LGUs of the province is to each vaccinate 1,000 residents a day for a total of 31,000 daily, or 93,000 vaccinees in three days.
The number of Negrenses vaccinated has already improved from 29,000 a week to 66,000 a week, he said.
“We are trying to really improve on that…as I told the LGUs let’s not wait for the three days, let’s do it on a daily basis already. Our efforts should be now until we reach herd immunity,” he said.
The provincial government target for reaching vaccination herd immunity is February, he reiterated.*
