Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson directed all Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (DRRMCs) in Negros Occidental to go on blue alert for Undas — the collective term for All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2.

The blue alert takes effect 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, until 5 p.m. of Nov. 3, he said.

Blue alert means all responders will be on standby mode.

“Relative to Presidential Proclamation No. 368 s. 2023 declaring November 1 (All Saint’s Day) and November 2 (All Soul’s Day) as Special Non-Working Holidays in the Philippines, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Emergency Operation Center (PDRRMC-EOC) is hereby raised to blue alert,” the governor said in his memorandum.

All concerned offices and agencies and the respective city and municipal DRRMCs are advised to monitor incidents during UNDAS, particularly in cemeteries, churches, and other places of convergence, he said.

They should coordinate all preparedness measures and response action plans, and report any untoward incidents, Lacson said.

He said the Provincial PDRRMC-EOC should also maintain the blue alert status in relation to the Kanlaon Volcano activity, which remains at Alert Level 2 (increasing unrest).*
