Gallaga exhibit opens

“Pagpalangga,” an exhibit of the art works of renowned Negrense artist and filmmaker Peque Gallaga, opened Saturday as part of the celebration of his birthday on August 25.

The exhibit will run until September 21, at The Negros Museum in Bacolod City.

“Happy Birthday, El Pogi,” a 5-minute video tribute to Gallaga by Director Lore Reyes has also started airing on social media

On Tuesday, August 24, Gallaga will be honored as one of the awardees of the 2021 Kaisa ini Sa Sining Lunsay nga Artistang Pilipino awards given by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. This is in recognition for the outstanding artists, cultural workers, and organizations in Visayas.

Pagpalangga” showcases approximately 80 of Gallaga’s artworks. Most of the pieces are of family members, colleagues, students, and friends to whom the artworks were given by Gallaga.

“Pagpalanggâ” (for love) gathers all the love between Peque and the people in his life to confirm that he was a consummate artist, an inspiring mentor, and a father to all, said Rene Hinojales, director of the show.

“Pagpalangga,” is produced by The Negros Museum and Real Entertainment. It was directed by Rene Hinojales. Cindy Ballesteros was production manager. The production team included Bing and Chart Motus, Jo Macasa, John Gilbert Arceo, EJ Ballesteros, Junjun Montelibano, Easter Anne Doza, Zadhea Solinap, Ronnie Lesaguis with the assistance of Eli Tajanlangit and Charlie Co.*
