Ex-PSC commissioner, PR man passes away

Public relations man Eric Loretizo, 56, died from cardiac arrest at the Adventist Medical Center Bacolod 7:50 p.m. Saturday, December 31.

Loretizo was also a journalist, commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission from December 2007 to July 2010, and secretary general of the Bacolod ASEAN Games organizing committee from 2003 to 2006.

He served as executive assistant to the late Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon from 2012 to 2019.

Among his public relations clients were former Bacolod mayor Evelio Leonardia, Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., former Sagay City mayor and now Rep. Alfredo Marañon III (Neg. Occ., 2nd District), former representative and now Sagay Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva, and Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya.

He also volunteered his services for then vice president Leni Robredo in the 2022 presidential campaign.

Loretizo had also worked as editorial and sports section consultant of the Qatar Tribune, sports/desk editor of the Visayan Daily Star, news and sports editor of Today News-Views, and news anchor/editor of GMA TV 10 Bacolod.

He is survived by his mother, Edith Tenerife Loretizo, and eight brothers and sisters.

His body lies in state at the St. Peter Memorial Chapels in Alijis, Bacolod City.

He will be buried at the Forest Lake Memorial Park in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod, after a funeral mass at the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8.*
