Cough topped the list of illnesses evacuees from the Kanlaon Volcano danger zone were suffering from, the Department of Health Negros Island Region reported on Friday, Dec. 20.
There were 507 displaced residents at evacuation centers who consulted the DOH NIR medical personnel and 128 had cough, 99 – fever, 76 – stomach aches and 43 – loose stools.
There were also 161 who complained of headaches, the DOH NIR reported.
Meanwhile, 16 portalets purchased by the Negros Occidental provincial government were delivered to evacuation centers on Saturday, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.
More are set to arrive to ensure proper sanitation at the evacuation centers, he added.*
