Ceneco power rates drop by P2.40/kWh in June

Central Negros Electric Cooperative announced on Friday that its residential power rate for June has dropped by P2.40 per kilowatt hour.

Its rate for June is now P12.7632/kWh from P15.1632/kWh last month, Ceneco announced.

Ceneco also announced that by virtue of the Provisional Authority granted by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to implement the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) between CENECO and the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) on May 29, EDC started its 20 MW base load power supply to the cooperative Friday, June 14.

With the additional power from EDC, the exposure of CENECO to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) where the electricity price is unstable, will be minimized, it said.

A further reduction of power rates is expected in the July billing, Ceneco Acting General Manager Arnel Lapore said.

Ceneco thanked Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer for urging ERC to implement the Power Supply Agreement.*
