
The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR), through the Bago City Police Station, has launched a thorough investigation following the discovery and subsequent identification of a male cadaver wrapped in plastic and tape in Barangay Pacol, Bago City, on Thursday morning, July 2.
The victim was identified by his siblings and former live-in partner as 26-year-old alias “Mickey,” a resident of Barangay 16, Bacolod City. He was recognized through his distinctive tattoos and the clothing he was wearing.
The police said concerned citizens alerted authorities at approximately 10:45 a.m. regarding a suspicious package in Purok Langka.
Responding investigators confirmed the presence of a body wrapped in plastic and secured with tape, dumped beneath a concrete electric post near an irrigation canal within a sugarcane plantation.
Initial findings revealed that sugarcane workers discovered the body after tracing a foul odor emanating from the area and immediately sought police assistance.
The victim’s former live-in partner said Mickey was last seen alive on June 27, 2026, at the Bacolod City Public Plaza, where he reportedly left with unidentified individuals. He had gone missing until his body was found five days later.
Police verification disclosed that the victim had a history of criminal cases for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 (Illegal Gambling), which were filed in 2018 and 2024 before the Bacolod City Police Office. Investigators are currently determining if these past cases have any relevance to his death.
Authorities are also validating intelligence information regarding Mickey’s possible involvement in past property crime incidents to establish potential motives or investigative leads. Officials emphasized that these intelligence reports are being assessed strictly as part of the ongoing probe.

“We assure the public that this case is being treated with utmost urgency. Our investigators are exhausting all available investigative leads and coordinating with other law enforcement units to identify those responsible. We encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation,” Cardiño said.
Police likewise urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or speculation that could hamper the progress of the case.
