Benitez leads bloodletting activity to strengthen local blood supply

In a continuing effort to support the health and well-being of the community Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, in partnership with the Bacolod City government and the Negros First Provincial Blood Center, spearheaded a bloodletting activity aimed at strengthening the local blood supply and assisting patients in need of life-saving transfusions.

The initiative gathered volunteers from various sectors of the community, including members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, STI students, and mallgoers who willingly participated as walk-in donors at SM City on Saturday, March 14, Councilor Caesar Distrtito said in a press release said.

Benitez thanked those who took part in the activity, emphasizing the importance of collective action in saving lives.

“Every bag of blood donated is a chance to save a life. We are deeply thankful to all our donors who took the time to participate in this meaningful activity. Your simple act of giving can make a life-saving difference for many patients in our community,” Benitez said.

The bloodletting activity forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that hospitals and medical facilities in Bacolod and the province have adequate blood reserves, especially for patients requiring emergency care, surgery, and treatment for various medical conditions. the press release said.

Organizers also highlighted the importance of regular blood donation as a safe and impactful way for individuals to contribute to public health and community welfare.
