Bacolod to start vaccinating 704 Pediatric A3 kids on Oct. 29

The Bacolod City and Iloilo City governments are simultaneously launching their COVID-19 vaccination drives for minors aged 12 to 17 year olds under the Pediatric A3 category on Friday, October 29, Dr. Chris Sorongon, Emergency Operations Center deputy for medical data and analysis, said Monday, October 25.

Bacolod City is launching its Pediatric A3 vaccination drive in partnership with the Riverside Medical Center on Friday, he said.

Registration will start at 8 a.m. and 704 minors with comorbidities have already been preregistered for vaccination, Sorongon said.

The Pediatric A3 vaccination drive after Friday will be held in the city’s mega vaccination centers near hospitals, he added.

He said the expansion of the Pediatric A3 vaccination drive will follow once adequate coverage of the A2 priority group or senior citizens has been achieved nationwide and vaccine supply becomes sufficient to include other children.

So far almost 5,000 Bacolod minors have been registered online for COVID-19 vaccination, he added.

Bacolod City will be launching its QR coded vaccination cards this week, Sorongon also said.

The initial release of the vaccination cards will be limited to those needing to travel so they will not be overwhelmed, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., acting City Health Officer, is issuing vaccination certificates at the Bacolod City Government Center clinic from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday to travelers as they are needed for the Bureau of Quarantine issuance of yellow cards, Sorongon said.

The city government will be setting up desks for QR coded vaccination cards at all vaccination centers in Bacolod City, he added.

He reminded the public that when they get their vaccination cards they should make sure their names are spelled right so they are correct when encoded into the computerized records.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology’s release of QR coded vaccination cards had initially been limited to selected pilot areas, but will soon be available nationwide, Sorongon said.*
