
Bacolod City y is starting preparations for the hosting of the Batang Pinoy 2026, with final dates set on Dec. 12 to 18.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mayor Greg Gasataya acknowledged the city government’s strong collaboration with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in bringing the national sports event for athletes 17 years and below to Bacolod.
“This milestone is a testament to our strengthened partnership with the PSC. We extend our sincere gratitude to Chairman Patrick Gregorio for his trust in Bacolod’s vision and for his commitment to grassroots sports development,” he said.
Gasataya said the Batang Pinoy 2026 will provide the platform for the city to further support homegrown talent. “We firmly believe that Bacolod City is more than capable to produce the next Filipino Olympian,” he added.
Gasataya said hosting the Batang Pinoy 2026 will also boost the city’s sports tourism, with the aim to “make Bacolod City a leading sports development center in the region.” “As Bacolod will welcome thousands of athletes, coaches, and families, we are also expecting a massive surge in activity for our local businesses,” he said.
This year will be the fourth time Bacolod will host the Batang Pinoy, after hosting the inaugural games in 1999, as well as in 2001 and 2013.
The Batang Pinoy 2025, hosted by General Santos City, gathered 19,700 athletes from 191 local government units that competed in 27 sports events.*
