Bacolod City government officials on Monday, June 9, broke ground for the establishment of essential emergency facilities on the land donated by the Lopez family-led Rockwell Land Corp. in Barangay Mandalagan.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Rockwell Land chief executive officer Nestor Padilla signed the deed of donation for the 2,130 square meter land, in the presence of Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya and other city officials.

“We found that this location would be more efficient, which is why it will serve as the very first site for our clustered emergency response facility in Bacolod City. Rockwell, thank you for being an instrument in making this milestone possible,” Benitez said in his message.

The donated land is located within the property developer’s Rockwell Center Bacolod project along Buri Road.

The area will be the site of the Mandalagan Fire Sub-Station, Police Station 3, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Command Center.

The construction of Police Station 3 will have a P20 million fund, of which P10 million has been facilitated for release by the office of Senator Francis Tolentino for implementation by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Padilla committed to providing a counterpart of P10 million from Rockwell Land.

“I’m confident that Bacolod will become a truly remarkable city – not just because we have a well-crafted master plan, but because we are blessed with generous, productive, and efficient partners `who will help us realize our vision of becoming a super city,” Benitez said.*PNA
