The team from Bacolod City settled for a bronze medal in the 2026 Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington on Sunday (PH time).
Representing the Asia-Pacific Region, the Filipino softbelles aged 12 to 14, who are students of Bacolod City National High School, blanked Hudsonville, Michigan of the United States Central Region, 4-0, to achieve a podium finish.
According to a post of Little League Philippines, pitcher Faith Tamba kept Central scoreless throughout the game. Asia-Pacific struck first in the second inning when Angel Chua doubled home Joliefeb Diaz, followed by another run in the fourth on Diaz’s RBI single.
“The Philippines sealed the victory in the seventh when Chantal Entira’s single resulted in two runs scoring on a Central fielding error, giving Asia-Pacific a 4–0 lead. Tamba and the defense then closed out the shutout with two strikeouts in the final inning,” the Little League Philippines post said.
The Southeast Region bagged the title after defeating West Region, 6-4.
“Congratulations and thank you for all your sacrifices to bring honor for Bacolod City, our country and the Asia-Pacific Region,” Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said in a Facebook post.*PNA
