Another ash eruption at Kanlaon on Monday

Kanlaon Volcano had another ash eruption at 1:10 p.m. on Monday, February 16, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The ash emission lasted for three minutes and no ashfall was reported in nearby towns and cities, Mari Andylene Quintia, PHIVOLCS La Carlota Observatory resident volcanologist, said.

The event generated grayish plumes that rose 150 meters above the summit crater before drifting southwest, she said.

Kanlaon recorded six volcanic earthquakes and emitted 1,124 tons of sulfur dioxide from 12 a.m. Sunday to 12 a.m. Monday, Phivolcs reported.*
