74 barangays in Bacolod, NegOcc earn SGLG awards

A total of 74 villages in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City received the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for 2024.

The DILG-Negros Occidental congratulated the 71 villages in the province for the “remarkable achievement” on Wednesday, Feb . 12.

“This is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and commitment to upholding the principles of good governance, transparency, accountability, and excellent public service,” it said.

The SGLGB awardees were from Bago City – Abuanan, Atipuluan, Binubuhan, Busay, Calumangan, Caridad, Dulao, Lag-asan, Mailum, Napoles, Poblacion, Tabunan, and Taloc; Cadiz City – Barangay 6 Poblacion, Burgos, Cabahug, Luna, Tiglawigan, and Tinampa-an; Calatrava – Lo-ok; Cauayan – Camindangan; Himamaylan City – Carabalan and Talaban; and Hinigaran – Barangay III, Bato, Camalobalo, Himaya, Pilar, Tuguis, and Baga-as.

The other barangay awardees were from Ilog – Dancalan; Isabela – Barangays 2 and 4; La Carlota City – San Miguel; La Castellana – Manghanoy, Mansalanao, and Talaptap; Manapla – Chambery and Purisima; Murcia – Alegria, Lopez Jaena, Minoyan, Pandanon, San Miguel, and Santa Cruz; Pontevedra – Barangay 1 and Burgos; and Pulupandan – Barangay Zone 4 and Ubay.

Also awarded were: from Sagay City – Baviera, Bulanon, Fabrica, Paraiso, Poblacion II, and Puey; San Carlos City – Bagonbon, Buluangan, Ermila, Guadalupe, Nataban, Rizal, and Barangays III, V, and VI; Silay City – Guimbala-on; Talisay City Zone 12-A; Toboso – Bug-ang, Magticol and San Jose; and Victorias City – Barangays II and VI-A.

Meanwhile, the three barangays in Bacolod City that received the SGLGB awards were Granada, Taculing and Pahanocoy.

“This recognition is a testament to your outstanding commitment to empowering communities, promoting good governance, and fostering sustainable development,” DILG-Bacolod City said in a separate statement.

The SGLGB is given to barangays that demonstrate excellence in governance, transparency, accountability, and the effective delivery of programs and services to their communities.

The DILG said being a national passer “highlights the dedication of these barangays to upholding the highest standards of public service and governance.”*PNA
