3rd NegOcc candidate for governor, two congressional bets file COCs

A third candidate for governor of Negros Occidental and two congressional aspirants filed their certificates of candidacy before the Commission on Elections at the Social Hall of the Capitol in Bacolod City on Friday, Oct. 4

Those who filed their COCs are Architect J. Paul Octaviano for governor, Erie Mahinay for congressman of the 1st District, and Joel Bantigue for congressman of the 3rd District.

All three are members of the Partido Lakas ng Masa.

Angelo Quitco, 51, of San Enrique, Negros Occidental, also filed a COC for board member of the 4th District of Negros Occidental.

Quitco said he is a radio announcer running as an independent candidate.

Octaviano, 74, previously ran for mayor of Victorias City and lost.

He is running for governor to ensure that every Negrense has access to essential services, Octaviano said

We are not bound by traditional politics but are driven by the desire to bring real solutions to the everyday struggles of the Negrense people”, Octaviano added.

He claimed Negros Occidental has been ranked 61st among the provinces in the country and he wants to turn that around.

Octaviano said if he wins he promises zero corruption in government.

The others who earlier filed their COCs for governor are Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and farmer Ferdenand Diego.

Mahinay, 60, is from San Carlos City and Bantiuue, 57, is from Talisay City.

In Bacolod City  Christian Weber was the lone candidate who filed a COC for councilor on Friday, City Election Officer Revo Sorbito.*
