2 hacked to death, 3 injured

Two persons were hacked to death and three others were injured in Negros Occidental on Sunday, August 27, the police said.

A sacada (seasonal farm worker) was hacked to death with a cane cutter while two others were injured by their co-worker at Hacienda Candelaria, Brgy. Baliwagan, San Enrique, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect was identified by the police Raymond Anacleto Langote, a sacada worker from Brgy Osorio, Culasi, Antique.

Killed was Gilbert Langote Brinio, 24, also of Brgy. Osorio, Culasi, while injured and hospitalized were Elmer Langote and Ronaldo Anacleto.

Police investigation showed that the victim was sleeping inside their barracks when the suspect for no apparent reason hacked him.

Elmer and Ronaldo tried to pacify the suspect but were also hacked and injured.

San Enrique Police Chief, Maj. Bonifacio Aral Jr., told DIGICAST NEGROS that Brinio was hacked in his neck causing his immediate death.

Elmer Langote was injured on his neck and chest, while Anacleto had injuries on his hands and some parts of his body. Both are now in stable condition, the police said.

Aral said that the police are looking at a personal grudge as one of the possible reasons for the hacking.

The suspect fled after the incident but was arrested Sunday night by the police, he added.

Meanwhile, two brothers were hacked by five suspects leaving one dead along the national road in Brgy. San Vicente, Binalbagan, Sunday night.

Jomarie Gentunzo, 42, was killed, while his brother Ernesto, 40, was injured after five suspects allegedly hacked and stabbed them in front of a bank.

The victims sustained multiple wounds on their bodies and were brought to the Binalbagan Infirmary.

The police arrested one of the five suspects identified as Alexander Dela Peña, 27, from Brgy. 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental, while the four others remain at-large.*
