2 drug suspects arrested, over P303K worth of suspected shabu in Kabankalan, San Carlos

Police arrested two suspected drug personalities and seized more than P303,000 worth of suspected shabu in separate buy-bust operations in Kabankalan City and San Carlos City on Friday, July 31.

The larger haul was recorded in Kabankalan City, where operatives of the Police Drug Enforcement Team arrested a 36-year-old unemployed suspect during an operation in Purok Ceresa, Brgy. Oringao, at around 9:18 a.m.

Police recovered 14 sachets containing about 25 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P170,000.

Also seized were an improvised glass tooter, two improvised plastic straw scoops with suspected shabu residue, a digital weighing scale, a black pouch, buy-bust money, P1,200 in cash, and a loaded .38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver with five live rounds.

The suspect will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old unemployed man listed as a street-level individual was arrested by the San Carlos police during a buy-bust operation at Villarante Village, Brgy. 1, at about 12:54 p.m.

Authorities recovered seven sachets containing about 19.66 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P133,688, along with a coin purse and buy-bust money.

The confiscated suspected illegal drugs will be submitted to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165.*
