About 100 golfers participated over the weekend in the 25th annual Rotary “Golf for a Cause” tournament held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club.
The event serves as the primary fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara, with proceeds funding the organization’s annual community outreach programs, a press release from the club said.
These initiatives include medical missions, coastal clean-ups, feeding programs, school supply distributions, computer literacy projects, mangrove planting, and eco-tourism support.
“This year’s tournament was outstanding, with excellent golf and the unwavering generosity of our sponsors and players,” said tournament chairman and past club president Mike Bantug.
“This is our major fundraiser of the year, with proceeds enabling us to carry out a wide range of community outreach programs” , he said.
Joemarie Limjap claimed the overall best net championship, finishing with a 24 handicap and a score of 84 points. Nicolo Torre won the overall best gross championship with an 11 handicap and 66 points.
The event also hosted the annual Rotary Inter-Club Tournament for local chapters, which was won by the newly-chartered Rotary Club of Murcia-Tinabuay.
The two-day competition concluded with an awards dinner at the club, featuring trophy presentations and a raffle draw.*
