A woman was injured when two trucks collided at the highway in Barangay Purisima, Manapla, Negros Occidental, on Saturday night, Jan. 24.
Police identified the injured passenger as “Nilda” of Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City, who was riding on a truck driven by her live-in partner, alias “Rodney,” 55.
The police said the other truck involved was driven by alias “Alejandro,” 49.
Investigation showed that Alejandro’s truck was traveling along the inner lane when it stopped due to mechanical trouble, prompting the driver to place an early warning device on the road.
Rodney’s truck was traveling from north to south when it reached the area and allegedly failed to notice the warning device, hitting the rear of the stalled truck.
Nilda sustained injuries and was brought to a hospital for medical treatment, while police said no injuries were reported on the part of the two drivers.
Authorities said an investigation is ongoing to determine possible liability and the extent of damages from the incident.*
