The Victorias City Public Plaza and City Hall are now adorned with holiday decorations, including a giant mechanical Christmas tree, which were unveiled during a switch-on ceremony on Saturday, November 9.
The City of Victorias, in partnership with SM City Bacolod, also turned over the “Bears Of Joy” to 107 Victoriasanon Daycare Children from Barangays I, IV, and VII, a press release from Victorias said.
SM City Bacolod’s beneficiary, Kalipay Negrense Foundation – a non-profit organization working for the causes of disadvantaged children, will also receive 107 bears from the Victorias LGU, “highlighting the true essence of Christmas by bringing joy and hope to the children,” the press release added.
This Christmas every Victoriasanon family will receive more gifts from the city government, Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said in his Christmas message.
Benitez said Christmas is a time to celebrate with family, and especially for children to craft new memories and hopes.
Vice Mayor JunB Bantug opened the ceremony with a welcome message, expressing his gratitude to Victoriasanons who came to witness the event.
Thousands of Victoriasanons gathered for the event that featured the OPM Band Neocolours, who performed their hit song “Tuloy Pa Rin” and other OPM classic.
Local talents, including the Victorias Elementary School Rondalla Ensemble and the Sidlak Chorale, also performed.
Victorias is among the first LGUs in Negros Occidental to unveil their Christmas decorations, bringing a festive start for the upcoming holiday season, and kicking off the upcoming Kalamayan Festival to open on December 13, the press release said.*
