Victorias City successfully hosted the 2nd Leg of the Australian Futsal Association (AFA) – Philippines Invitational Futsal Tour at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center on Wednesday, November 20.
Four teams from Negros Occidental went head-to-head against the visiting team from Australia in a thrilling futsal competition, highlighting exceptional talent and fierce athleticism, a press release from Victorias City said Friday.
Councilor Audie Malaga, representing Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, welcomed participants and emphasized the Local Government Unit’s (LGU) dedication to advancing sports programs and nurturing young athletes.
AFA Tour Manager Byron Escobar thanked the city for its hospitality and recognized its leadership and partners for supporting the event.
He commended the generosity of Benitez and the event partners’ efforts in making the tour memorable.
Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (NORFA) Finance Officer and Elan Vita Diagnostics CEO Keith Buyco encouraged participants to enjoy the games.
Sports Legend Coach Elmer “Lacknet” Bedia inspired athletes to pursue their passion for football.
In an exciting final match, Team Australia emerged as the champion, defeating San Carlos City with a score of 8-5.
Victorias City was second runner-up, while Talisay City and Bacolod City claimed third and fourth runner-up positions, respectively.
The event was facilitated by Director and Manager of Victorias City Football Club (VCFC) Engr. Vince Lazo and Sidney Magbanua and was organized through the joint efforts of the City Government of Victorias, Elan Vita Diagnostic Solutions, NORFA, and VCFC.*
