USLS law students 3rd runner ups in nat’l moot court competition

The Moot Court team of the University of St. La Salle College of Law bested eight other colleges and universities in the country as they placed 3rd runner-up in the DivinaLaw – UST Philippine Jessup Cup Moot Court Competition held February 25-28.

The team also won the Best Applicant Memorial award in the said competition.
The University of the Philippines won as champion followed by the University of San Carlos, 1st runner-up, and Ateneo De Manila University, 2nd runner-up.

The USLS Moot Court team is composed of law students Vanessa Matti (team captain), Rachel Lois Gella, Christien Derrick Chin, Garcela Villalobos, Jarre Gromea, Justin Eric Pabon and Kara Fontanilla.

Chin was also recognized as 10th Best Oralist while Gella and Matti were also recognized as 7th and 9th Best Oralist in last year’s competition.

The team was coached by USLS College of Law professor Mac Lord Zafra, Carmela Marie Santos and USLS College of Law Alumni Christine Tan, Marty Go, Carla De La Peña and Carlos Auxtero III.

This is the third consecutive year that the USLS Jessup Moot Court team garnered research/memorial writing distinction and Top 10 best mooters as the team joined advanced matches in the region and global rounds.
The DivinaLaw – UST Philippine Jessup is the qualifying round for the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition which is the oldest and largest moot court competition with participants from 700 law schools in 100 countries and jurisdictions.*
