The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary trail to its 7th falls is expected to be completed and open to the public in the 1st quarter of 2026, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said on Monday, Jan. 19.
He said the trail from the 6th to the bottom of the 1st falls has been completed. Minor landslides were detected in the launching area and these are currently being repaired by installing slope protection.
Residents of Brgy Minoyan in Murcia where the resort is located are being trained as guides to ensure community participation in the project, Diaz said.
Diaz said they were trained in first aid skills, basic life support and how to protect the environment, especially the flora and fauna around the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Working trail guides will also serve as patrollers for environment protection, he added.*
