Three candidates for mayor, 25 for other posts file COCs

One candidate for congressman, three for mayor, two for vice mayor and 22 for councilor filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) in Negros Occidental during the weekend, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said Sunday, October 3.

Vice Mayor Renato Malabor Jr. of the United Negros Alliance filed his COC for mayor of Isabela town, along with three-term councilor Raffy Uy who is running for vice mayor, on Sunday.

Malabor is challenging incumbent Isabela Mayor Irene Montilla.

Malabor’s councilor bets who also filed their COCs are Cesar Lim Jr., Jose Reden Decena, Francis Malabor, Elsa Candelario, Danny Magan, Sarry Sarimong, Jose Joenel Magallon and Henry Foscablop.

In Candoni town Vice Mayor Loriemae Joy Gargar filed her COC for mayor, while Councilor Rolando Gequilan in running for vice mayor, Ananoria said.

Archie Gasias filed his COC for mayor of Talisay City.

Anthony Villaruz Javelosa, former barangay captain of Aguisan, Himamaylan City, filed his COC for congressman of the fifth district of Negros Occidental, against incumbent Rep. Ma. Lourdes Arroyo.

Among those who filed their COCs for councilor were nine in Candoni, eight in Isabela, two in Victorias City, and one each in Bacolod City, Binalbagan and Ilog, Commission on Elections records show.

The filing of COCs will end on Friday, October 8.*
