Classes in all public schools from elementary to senior high school in Talisay City will be suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 9 and 10, to give way to the Minulu-an Festival.
Mayor Maria Rowena Lopez-Lizares issued Executive Order No. 47 on Sept. 5, citing heavy traffic, transportation difficulties, and the participation of students and teachers in festival activities as the reasons for the suspension.
The Minulu-an Festival, which runs from Sept. 6 to 10, is the city’s annual cultural celebration showcasing the heritage, traditions, and talents of Talisaynons. Highlights include performances, competitions, and the street dance showdown.
Private schools may also suspend classes at their discretion, but school administrations have been encouraged to allow students to participate in festival events.*
