Counterfeit Magic Sarap seasoning have been recovered from two public markets in La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
The fake items was seized at the Cabacungan Public Market on Monday, August 10, while additional supplies were confiscated from three outdoor stalls at the La Castellana Public Market last week, La Castellana Information Officer Remuel Lajo said.
Lajo noted that the fake Magic Sarap emits a foul odor, its granules easily crumble when squeezed, and the packaging displays inconsistent coloring.
Lajo warned vendors and consumers against selling or purchasing the counterfeit product, adding that suppliers have been directly delivering the fake items to market vendors.
The recoveries follow an August 5 entrapment operation in Bacolod City, where authorities arrested a 64-year-old Chinese national and a 32-year-old woman after seizing ₱470,400 worth of allegedly counterfeit seasoning products.*
