A farmers association in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, received P5.2 million worth of farming equipment from the Bank of the Philippine Islands Foundation to develop their agribusiness venture, on Tuesday, March 19.
The Quezon Codcod RiceBIS (Business Innovation Systems) Farmers’ Agriculture Cooperative (QUECORIFACO) is one of the three farmers associations in the country selected by BPIF to receive a truck and a rice mill worth P5.2M.
The BPIF selected QUECORIFACO to expand their agribusiness and equip the organization with enterprise machines that will enhance transport and production of their produce, a press release said.
BPIF has also selected two farmers’ associations in Luzon and Mindanao to help their agribusiness ventures.
This program is a collaboration of BPIF and the Philippine Rice Research Institute.
The turnover was held at the multipurpose gym of Brgy. Quezon in San Carlos City which was attended by BPIF and PhilRice Officials, and QUECORIFACO members.
The cooperative is composed of five associations covering 415 hectares and benefitting 300 members.
QUECOFARICO Chairperson Hernan Samson also thanked BPIF for the grant as it will help in their production to support their fellow members amid resource constraints.
“With this grant, we can fulfill our duty as stewards of our members and communities,” Samson said.*
