Salanga says he was in ER when pickup hit restaurant

Bacolod Councilor Israel Salanga said on Monday, Nov. 27, that he was in the emergency room of The Doctors Hospital when the person driving the pickup that brought him there accidentally hit the glass wall of a nearby restaurant on Saturday.

The driver Andres Realubit, 20, accidentally drove the pickup through the glass wall of Quan at BS Aquino Drive. No one was hurt and the matter was settled with the damage repaired, Salanga said.

Salanga said every 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays he teaches a class at STI West Negros University. While he was preparing to go to STI WNU he slipped in his bathroom and hurt his left arm, which he used to protect his head as he fell. The arm sustained a minor fracture.

Because of the pain he hurriedly dressed up and asked his staff Andres Realubit, 20, to drive him to The Doctors Hospital emergency room, he said.

While he was at the emergency room the guard and the staff at the hospital were witness to the fact that the driver entered to inform him that he hit the restaurant while he was parking.

Salanga said he was made to lie down at the emergency room and ice was placed on his arm while waiting for an X-ray.

He said contrary to allegations, he was not in the vehicle when the accident happened as witnessed by the hospital staff and as shown in a CCTV video of the incident.

He said the pickup that figured in the accident is owned by his brother Mark Gabriel Salanga.*
