The ten returning Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan members will most likely retain most of their SP committee chairmanships, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer said Sunday, July 3.
Only Andrew Martin Torres of the 4th District and Anthony Occeño of the 5th District are the new members of the provincial board.
Ferrer said a decision will have to be made on what committees will be assigned to them.
The members of the SP usually give the vice governor a free hand to appoint the committee chairpersons.
The major committees are usually given to the senior members of the SP, Ferrer said.
The reelected SP members are Rommel Debulgado and Araceli Somosa of the 1st District, Sixto Guanzon Jr. and Samson Mirhan – 2nd District, Manuel Frederick Ko and Andrew Montelibano – 3rd District, Jose Benito Alonso – 4th District, Rita Gatuslao – 5th District, and Valentino Miguel Alonso and Jeffrey Tubola – 6th District.
The Negros Occidental SP is set to hold its inaugural session at the Capitol in Bacolod City on Tuesday afternoon, July 5.
