The identities of three persons whose remains were dumped off a bridge in Sitio Lantawan, Brgy. Guimbala-on, Silay City, Negros Occidental, have not been identified, Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, said Tuesday, January 3.
A decomposing body and skeletal remains of two other persons in a sack that was thrown off the Oyut Bridge in Sitio Lantawan were recovered on Saturday, December 30.
The remains of the three males were beyond recognition and were buried at the Silay Public Cemetery to avoid health risks, Darroca said.
The person whose remains were decomposing may have been killed five to six days earlier and the two others more than a month ago, he said.
He said two families went to the Silay police station to verify if the remains found were those of their missing relatives.
If there are interested parties who wish to have the remains undergo DNA tests it will have to be at their own expense, he said.
A resident of Sitio Lantawan said that at around 11:55 p.m. of Dec. 26, 2022, he was awakened by the loud noise of a vehicle and when he peeked through his window he saw that a Brown Toyota Innova had stopped and two men threw a sack off the Oyut bridge.
On December 30 the witness and his father verified what was in the sack thrown off the cliff and were surprised when they found the decomposing body and the skeletal remains.
The sack fell 150 feet below, Darroca said.
Darroca said they are looking for CCTV footage of the vehicle used.
The victims are likely to have been killed elsewhere and dumped in Silay, he said, noting that no missing person had been reported from the city.*
