PVO holds veterinary relief operations at flood-hit areas

The Provincial Veterinary Office conducted simultaneous veterinary relief operations as part of its disaster recovery efforts in flood-stricken areas of the Third District in Negros Occidental.

The veterinary relief operations at the cities of Talisay, Silay and Victorias include services such as deworming, consultation, vaccination, vitamin B supplementation of pet and livestock animals as well as the dispersal of 300 heads of free-range chicks and distribution of information-education campaign materials on raising livestock during the rainy season.

Dewormers, anti-biotic solubles, electrolytes, vitamins and vaccines were also distributed.

The veterinary relief operations were conducted in badly hit areas such as Barangays 6A and 7 in Victorias City with 97 clients served, Brgy. E. Lopez and Brgy. Bagtic in Silay City with 101 clients served and 131 clients served in Brgy. 14B, Talisay City.

The PVO also deployed its veterinarians and technical personnel in each location in coordination with its Provincial Veterinary District Field Unit led by District 3 Veterinarian Ruffa Mae Gersaniva, in collaboration with the respective city veterinary offices.

PVO intends to promote disaster mitigation and recovery not just the welfare and productivity of the animals but also of the residents.*
