PRO-NIR sending 150 cops to Cebu to augment Sinulog security forces

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region is sending 150 policemen to Cebu City to augment the Sinulog Festival 2026 security forces.

The send-off ceremony was held at the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOrPPO) headquarters at Camp Lt. Col Francisco C Fernandez Jr. in Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan.

A NIR team included 100 personnel from the NOrPPO and 50 from the Siquijor Provincial Police Office, who will be in Cebu City from January 15 to 18, in support of intensified security measures for the event.

The ceremony was led by PCol. Lito E. Patay, deputy regional director for operations, together with other PRO-NIR and NAPOLCOM officials.

The PRO-NIR leadership reminded the deployed personnel to observe discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights while performing their duties.

The police were also instructed to remain vigilant in crowd management, emergency response, and overall public safety during the festivities.

PRO-NIR assured the public that security operations across the Negros Island Region will remain uninterrupted despite the deployment.

The regional office said the deployment highlights inter-regional coordination to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of major national events.*
