Police investigators have filed a request before the court to unlock the mobile phone of Vannie Galagate, alias “Dodoy,” which may contain critical information to strengthen the case and identify the role of his cohort in the crime, Maj. Randy Babor, Ilog Police Chief, said on Thursday, Aug. 21.
.
Galagate, 34, shot and killed Philip George Vail Sr., chairman of the board of Dancalan Private Academy, at the Dancalan plaza on Aug. 5.
While fleeing, Galagate was killed in a firefight with the police after allegedly resisting arrest during a pursuit operation.
Babor said that although the case against Galagate is considered solved, it remains open pending the investigation into his accomplice.
Evidence from the gunman’s phone is expected to help police file murder charges against the second suspect.*
