Police arrests 2 fugitives facing rape raps in Sagay

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region operatives arrested the region’s top 1 and 8 most wanted fugitives in two separate operations in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on Monday, Dec. 2.

The Valladolid police arrested the Region’s Top 1 Most Wanted Person at around 6:19 p.m. in Purok Pagla-um, Brgy. Maquiling, Sagay City.

The police identified the suspect as alias “Mar,” 63, of Valladolid, who was temporarily staying in the area.

He was arrested by virtue of warrants for 17 counts of statutory rape and 23 counts of acts of lasciviousness involving a minor.

Investigators said he allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she reported the abuse.

The Sagay City police arrested the region’s eighth Most Wanted Person at around 9:30 p.m. in Purok Paghidait, Brgy. Baviera.

The suspect, identified as alias “Poloy,” 22, was wanted for statutory rape and rape charges under amended provisions of the Revised Penal Code.

Police said he and three companions allegedly took turns sexually assaulting a minor after a drinking session.

The two accused are now detained at their respective police units for proper legal action.

PRO NIR said the arrests demonstrate their intensified efforts to track down high-value fugitives in the region.
