Pa drowns in Sipalay trying to rescue child

A British-Filipino citizen was carried away by strong sea current and drowned in Purok 4, Brgy. 2, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, 7:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20.

The victim was identified by the police only as alias “Jerryson”, 57, a British-Filipino national, and resident of Brgy. Bagbag, Bauang, La Union province, and Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

The police said the victim and his child were swimming when a strong wave swept the child into the deep section of the coast.

The victim tried to save his child but he was also swept away by the strong current.

The family saved the child, while Jerryson was retrieved by the Sipalay City Rescue Team.

He was brought to the Sipalay City Infirmary where he was declared dead on arrival, the police said.*
