P14M fire hits warehouse of Megaworld contractor

An about 30-minute fire hit a temporary warehouse and office facility of a Megaworld contractor at The Upper East in Barangay 41, Bacolod City, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 13.

A Bacolod Fire Station report placed the fire damage to Multitrade Corporation’s temporary warehouse at about P14 million.

The nearby construction sites as well as residential towers at The Upper East were re not affected, Harold Geronimo, Megaworld Vice President of Public Relations and Media Affairs, said.

The blaze started at about 2:20 p.m. and Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Stephen Jardeleza declared the fire out at 2:55 p.m., Geronimo said.

“We thank the Bacolod City Fire Station, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and all the local fire chambers for their fast response to the fire call. The incident only lasted for about 30 minutes because of the efficient fire response of the city,” he said.

SFO4 Jereck C. Barbas, Bacolod City Fire Station ground commander, said they were still determining the cause of the fire.*
