The police in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental confiscated more than P11 million in suspected shabu in three separate buy-bust operations in Dumaguete City, Bacolod City, and Don Salvador Benedicto on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 14 and 15.

The biggest haul came from Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, where a high-value individual (HVI) was arrested in Barangay Bajumpandan on Thursday evening with P10.2 million in shabu

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Franklin Miral Lifana of Bacong, Negros Oriental, was nabbed by joint operatives of the Dumaguete City Police Station–City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 17 Negros Island Region.

Authorities said surveillance began early that day after an informant tipped off the police about a planned drug transaction.

The sting operation at around 10:19 p.m. led to the seizure of about 1,500 grams of suspected shabu valued at P10.2 million.

Lifana remains in police custody for the filing of charges.

Meanwhile, police in Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental arrested two more suspects in a buy-bust at Spur 16, Brgy. Bunga, Thursday afternoon.

The suspects, alias “Rolly”, 42 and alias “Rey”, 33, were caught after allegedly handing over a heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover cop.

Authorities confiscated 24 grams of suspected shabu worth P163,200.

In Bacolod City, the BCPO-CDEU arrested two men in a buy-bust operation at Purok Cereza South, Barangay 3, at around 2:50 a.m. Friday.

Alias “Robert”, 39 and alias “Rey”, 25, of Barangay 3 were apprehended after allegedly selling shabu to a police poseur buyer.

Recovered from them were about 110 grams of suspected shabu worth P748,000.

They are detained at the BCPO headquarters pending charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region Director, PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, commended the operatives for their coordination, professionalism, and swift action, saying the operations send a clear message that the police are relentless in their campaign against illegal drugs.*
