NWPC affirmation awaited before ₱40–₱45 pay increase takes effect

Minimum wage earners in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental are now waiting on the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) to affirm Wage Order No. 30, which grants them a ₱40 to ₱45 daily pay raise.

Lawyer Mark Dioquino, spokesperson for the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) VI, said that once the NWPC affirms the order, the new rates will officially take effect 15 days after its publication.

Last year’s Wage Order No. 29 took effect on Nov. 19, so the new wage adjustment is expected to take effect on or around the same date.

Dioquino added that parties opposed to Wage Order No. 30 may still file an appeal following its publication.

The RTWPB-6 approved the daily minimum wage increase for private-sector workers in Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City last week.

Under Wage Order No. 30, agricultural workers will receive a ₱45 daily increase, raising their minimum wage from ₱520 to ₱565.

Non-agricultural workers in establishments employing more than 10 workers will get a ₱40 daily increase, taking their daily minimum wage from ₱550 to ₱590.

Those in non-agricultural establishments with 10 or fewer employees will also receive a ₱40 daily increase, raising their minimum wage from ₱525 to ₱565.

Meanwhile, the monthly minimum wage for domestic workers (kasambahays) will increase by ₱500, from ₱6,500 to ₱7,000.*
